The Development Path is on the table of negotiation.. The Minister of Transport meets the Turkish Minister of Trade

The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, met today, Tuesday, at the Guest House in Baghdad, the Turkish Minister of Trade, Omer Polat, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss joint cooperation in projects related to the transport sector.

A statement by the media office of the Ministry of Transport stated that the Minister met with the Turkish Minister of Trade and his accompanying delegation represented by Deputy Minister Mustafa Torjo, the Turkish Ambassador to Baghdad Alireza Konay, the President of the Federation of Turkish Chambers and Stock Exchanges, the Head of the Contractors Union, representatives of the Exporters Union, private companies and the Turkish Foreign Relations Authority, to discuss relations.

The statement added that the meeting, which was held in the guesthouse in the center of the capital, Baghdad, reviewed transportation projects between Baghdad and Ankara, while the two sides noted the Iraqi-Turkish relations, while the Minister affirmed the Iraqi government’s keenness to strengthen these relations.

The Minister continued: “The development path between Iraq and Turkey is the largest project in the Middle East between two countries, because of the strategic location of the two countries, which we are working to invest for the benefit of our peoples and the peoples of the region and the world,” stressing that the transport sector is one of the most important tools of economic development, and therefore the path of development It is a qualitative addition to the economies of all countries in the region, especially Iraq and Turkey.

For his part, the Turkish Minister said that his visit, and before that the visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Baghdad, falls within the framework of preparation for the upcoming visit that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to make to Iraq, stressing that this reflects the prosperity of relations between the two countries.

Polat added that Iraq enjoys an important position with Turkey, stressing his country’s keenness to enhance political and economic stability between the two countries, indicating remarkable progress in the framework of trade exchange and the tourism sector.

The Turkish Minister stopped at the development path, which he described as one of the most important transport and logistics projects, pointing out that the Turkish government attaches great importance to this project as it links the Gulf to Europe.

He stressed that Turkey is ready to provide the necessary support for the project, referring to the work and initiation of the construction of superstructure and infrastructure projects related to the Turkish side, related to the road, expressing his hope to open the Fishkhabur port to facilitate trade exchange between the two countries.

The statement pointed out that the meeting witnessed interventions and proposals by the number of participants in the meeting from both sides, which enriched the discussions that focused on transport projects between the two countries.

The Turkish Minister of Trade congratulated Iraq on its accession to the International Transit Land Transport Agreement (TiR), which regulates international transport operations, via the land route.
