PM Chairs A Meeting Of The Ministerial Council For National Security And Issues Several Directives Related To The Border Crossings And Sinjar

Baghdad - The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, chaired, this evening, Wednesday, a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security, in the presence of members of the Council.

The meeting discussed the overall security situation in the country, and strengthening the implementation of the necessary security plans to extend security and stability throughout Iraq.

The meeting discussed support for the Border Ports Authority. Due to the great efforts made by its cadres, the Prime Minister directed it be supported with human cadres, financial allocations, and technical equipment to enhance its efforts to control the borders and prevent smuggling operations whose perpetrators are trying to harm the national economy, in addition to emphasizing the rehabilitation and development of the infrastructure in the governorates that include border crossings.

The meeting also discussed the situation in Sinjar district, where the Prime Minister stressed supporting the judiciary and working to ensure the presence of all service departments within Sinjar to facilitate the task of citizens in completing their private transactions.

Al-Sudani also directed to continue working to provide an appropriate environment that encourages the people of Sinjar displaced to other governorates to return to the district and contribute to its reconstruction.

The Council affirmed its support for all efforts to maintain security and stabilize the regions of Iraq, so that the government and its ministries can continue implementing reform and development plans.

The Council discussed a number of other topics on the agenda and took the necessary measures regarding them.
