Turkish authorities rescued 71 migrants from drowning west of Turkiye.
A Turkish Coast Guard statement said that 51 migrants were rescued off the coast of Izmir province.
The statement added that 20 migrants were also rescued off the coast of Mugla province, and that rescue teams moved migrants to Turkish mainland.
For years, Turkiye has been facing a migration wave from many African and Asian regions, hoping to reach the European Union’s territory.
