Qatar Participates in 46th King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition

Doha: Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, is participating in the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization of the Holy Quran, Recitation and Interpretation. The event is being held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah from August 6 to 19 and features Quran memorizers from around the world.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry's involvement in this international Quran competition demonstrates Qatar's ongoing efforts to support the Holy Quran and its memorizers while reinforcing its presence at global Quranic events. This participation highlights the importance of the Holy Quran in Qatari society and aims to strengthen Islamic values and cultural identity among the younger generations.

Omar Aqla Al Ruwaili, head of the Islamic network department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, led the Qatari delegation, which includes two contestants and their instructors. They will compete in two categories of the competition, showcasing the progress of Quranic education programs in Qatar.

Al Ruwaili emphasized that the state's commitment to promoting the Holy Quran is reflected in the ministry's participation in this longstanding international competition. The ministry supports outstanding Quran memorizers by providing opportunities for them to compete in regional and international competitions, enhancing their skills and experience.

The selection of contestants involved a comprehensive process of monitoring, training, and preparation, ensuring that highly qualified Quran memorizers represent Qatar. The ministry aims to have these individuals serve as worthy ambassadors for both the Holy Quran and the State of Qatar.

This participation is part of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs' broader efforts to expand the number of Quran memorizers through educational programs, competitions, and specialized Quran centers. This aligns with the ministry's strategic objective to build a society deeply rooted in its Islamic values and proud of its religious and cultural identity.
