Qatari Newspapers Emphasize Strong Stance on Jerusalem Amid Arab Ministerial Meeting

Doha: Qatari newspapers, on Thursday, highlighted the participation of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with mobilizing international action in response to illegal Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem. The editorials underscored Qatar's unwavering commitment to defending the Holy City of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, emphasizing the country's long-standing position that the Palestinian cause remains a central, uncompromisable issue.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya noted that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, led the Qatari delegation at the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee held in Amman, Jordan. The meeting addressed the dangerous Israeli escalation in occupied Jerusalem and its holy sites. A unified action was initiated to counter all illegal Israeli measures that are escalating the regional conflict.

The newspaper affirmed Doha's continued political, diplomatic, and humanitarian support for the Palestinian people, rejecting Judaization, settlement expansion, and attacks on holy sites. This stance aligns with Qatar's commitment to international law and relevant resolutions. Al-Raya also emphasized that attempts by Israeli occupation to seize Al-Aqsa Mosque will fail, asserting Israel and non-Muslims have no rightful claim to the site. The international community is urged to restrain Israel's plans that could ignite a wider regional conflict.

Al-Watan highlighted His Excellency's affirmation during the meeting that East Jerusalem is part of the occupied Palestinian territory, and must be the capital of a free, independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. The meeting reaffirmed principles necessary for a just, lasting peace, which Israel has long resisted, contributing to regional suffering. Israel's continued use of force aims to maintain control, defying peace efforts.

The newspaper concluded that current events in Jerusalem and the West Bank indicate a dangerous trend, with settler behavior becoming part of a broader annexation plan by Benjamin Netanyahu's government. This situation demands action from the international community and the Security Council to halt illegal Israeli measures in occupied Jerusalem and its holy sites, rejecting unilateral decisions that violate the city's legal status.
