Doha: Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) has honored the participants in the second Young Leaders Program in a ceremony attended by HE Vice Chairman and Managing Director of QLC, Sheikh Dr. Abdulla bin Ali bin Saud Al-Thani. The program engaged 75 male and female students and included an international fellowship with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), along with a summer camp in collaboration with the American University of Beirut (AUB).
According to Qatar News Agency, the ceremony was interspersed with the screening of a film documenting the key landmarks of the participants’ educational experiences, highlighting the skills they had earned in strategic thinking and collective work. The event also reviewed the best global leadership and entrepreneurship practices and promoted participants’ awareness of global issues and sustainable development.
Addressing the event, Director of QLC Programs, Sheikha Al Jawhara Faisal Al-Thani, emphasized that the program featured extensive sessions in Doha, followed by field training in the United States. This included high-level meetings with Qatari and UN officials and participation in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) of the United Nations.
The summer camp, held in collaboration with AUB, targeted secondary school students and comprised workshops, lectures, and practical activities designed to hone their leadership skills and enhance their capabilities in critical thinking and collective work. Sheikha Al Jawhara highlighted that these activities broadened the students’ exposure to various academic and cultural experiences.
QLC’s administration emphasized that the program represents an opportunity for young people, affirming that it looks forward to enlarging the scope of this program. This expansion aims at investing in humans and preparing a generation capable of effectively contributing to the path toward national development.
