Doha: The Muslim World League strongly condemned Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement released on Tuesday, the League emphasized that Colombia's decision violates international law and relevant United Nations resolutions. Notably, it undermines Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which declared Israel's imposition of its laws and administration on the Golan as null and void.
The League reiterated that the Golan Heights is considered occupied Syrian Arab territory. It stressed that any measures contradicting this status are invalid and rejected, as they undermine efforts for peace in the region.
