Ministry of Education and Higher Education Celebrates World Autism Awareness Day

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education illuminated its building in blue as part of the celebration of World Autism Awareness Day, symbolizing the ministry’s commitment to individuals with autism. This commitment is reflected in the continuous efforts to implement comprehensive inclusive education policies in schools, catering to the needs of each student and developing their skills.

Fatima Al Saadi, who is the director of special education and inclusive education at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said that the ministry is dedicated to providing equal educational opportunities for all students, regardless of their requirements. This is achieved through diverse educational services and support that consider each student’s individual needs and abilities.

In addition to this, the ministry provides its services through a Center for Assessment, Consultation, and Support, offering comprehensive assessment services and monitoring of students with disabilities to ensure their effective
educational integration. These services also include providing support and guidance to families in choosing the appropriate school and developing educational support plans.

Al Saadi emphasized that the ministry focuses particularly on integrating students with autism and other disabilities into government schools, ensuring the fulfillment of their diverse needs and the development of suitable teaching methods and curricula. In this regard, the ministry has designated three types of schools: comprehensive inclusive education schools, technical and vocational pathway schools, and guidance schools for individuals with special needs. Personal experiences of parents shed light on the positive impact of these programs and services on the lives of their children, enhancing confidence in the ministry’s approach.

The ministry continually endeavors to enhance its services for students with diverse needs. In this context, it launched a program as part of its operational plan for the years 2023 to 2030. The aim of the
program is to empower students with disabilities and prepare them for integration into the workforce, aligning with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
