Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that allies of Ukraine will convene in Paris in early January to deliberate on security guarantees to be extended to Kyiv as part of any forthcoming peace agreement with Russia.
According to Qatar News Agency, Macron communicated this development on the social media platform X, following discussions with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He stated that France will host nations from what he termed a "coalition of the willing" to finalize specific contributions.
Macron emphasized that advancements have been made regarding security guarantees, which he considers crucial for establishing a just and enduring peace.
The announcement comes on the heels of a meeting between the US and Ukrainian leaders in Florida, where Trump expressed cautious optimism about the potential for resolving the conflict, ongoing since February 2022.
Russia has yet to issue a response to the proposed discussions.
