Lebanese President and US State Secretary Discuss Cooperation and Stability Efforts in Lebanon

Doha: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun met in Washington today with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries and efforts to achieve stability in Lebanon.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, Aoun emphasized the importance of aligning Lebanon's position with Washington's concerning the implementation of the trilateral framework agreement. This alignment aims to achieve the first Israeli withdrawal from the initial pilot area.

The Lebanese President also urged for increased US support for the Lebanese Army and security institutions. He highlighted the necessity of reinforcing American engagement with Lebanon, specifically in the economic and investment sectors, such as energy, telecommunications, and transportation.

The US State Secretary expressed his country's support for the Lebanese President's positions and the measures he has undertaken to restore Lebanon's sovereignty over its entire territory. Rubio reaffirmed the United States' commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the trilateral framework agreement and advancing the Lebanese government's efforts to promote stability, achieve economic recovery, and build a better future for the Lebanese people.
