Doha: When the treacherous attack occurred on September 9, the political leadership of Hamas was studying an American proposal that it had received from Qatar and Egypt. It is evident that Israel, which was supposed to be the other negotiating party, at least in the context of this mediation, was aware of this meeting being held in a well-known location frequented by diplomats, journalists, and others. Thus, it decided to assassinate negotiators engaged in studying an American paper and preparing their response to it.
According to Qatar News Agency, questions have arisen regarding the rationale behind Israel’s actions. If Israel wants to assassinate the political leadership of Hamas, then why does it negotiate with them? And if it aims to negotiate the release of hostages, then why assassinate those who could conduct negotiations? Concerns are also raised about welcoming Israeli delegations for negotiations when their senders are allegedly plotting to bomb the host country.
This situation clarifies the perception that the aggression is blatant and treacherous. There are fundamental principles in human interaction that seem to be disregarded in this context. The systematic approach to assassinating negotiation parties suggests an intention to sabotage the negotiations. The acts in question contradict the claim that the goal is to free detainees.
The narrative suggests that the true objective is to make Gaza uninhabitable to displace its population, exploiting the war to expand settlements and change the status quo in key areas. The Israeli government is perceived to present Arabs with a series of faits accomplis, expecting them to drop old issues and negotiate over new ones.
