HH the Amir Inaugurates Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit Amidst Crisis

Doha: HH the Amir, chairing the session, delivered a speech at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, welcoming attendees to Doha and expressing gratitude for their swift response to the urgent invitation.

According to Qatar News Agency, Doha was recently subjected to an attack targeting a residence housing families of Hamas’ political leadership and its negotiating delegation. The attack occurred in a residential area with schools and diplomatic missions, resulting in the death of six individuals, including a Qatari citizen from the Internal Security Forces, and injuring 18 others. This incident shocked both citizens and residents due to its violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international norms, as well as the special circumstances surrounding the act.

Qatar, positioned as a mediation state far from the site of the aggressor’s aircraft launch, has been making efforts over two years to broker a settlement to halt the ongoing conflict against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The aim is to stop what has become a genocidal war and secure the release of Israeli hostages.

Doha has served as a negotiation hub, hosting delegations from both Hamas and Israel. The mediation efforts, in collaboration with Egypt and the United States, have led to the release of 135 hostages and two truces in 2023 and 2025, along with the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. However, the conflict continues.

Qatar remains committed to mediating for a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, the entry of humanitarian aid, and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
