Finland has become the NATO's 31st member after Minister of Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto handed the accession document to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Dubbing Finland's accession as a historic day for the security alliance, Blinken said it was maybe the one thing they can thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for, alluding to the Russian military operation in Ukraine that prompted Finland's accession.
Finnish Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen said before the accession ceremony that it was certainly a great day for Finland, and a good thing for NATO. (QNA)
