Istanbul, Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued 50 irregular migrants and arrested 43 others in separate operations off the coast of Izmir province, western Turkey. The Turkish Coast Guard Command stated in a statement today, Tuesday, that teams were sent to rescue migrants after they were spotted on a rubber boat off the coast of Menderes district in Izmir province. The Turkish Coast Guard Command indicated in its statement that 19 migrants, including 3 children, were rescued who were on board the boat drifting in the open sea after the Greek side pushed it into Turkish territorial waters. The teams also rescued 31 migrants who were on a rubber boat whose engine broke down off the coast of Dikili district. Coast Guard teams seized 43 migrants, including two children, on board a rubber boat spotted off the coast of "Çesme". The irregular migrants were referred to the provincial immigration directorate.
