Intelligence detachments arrested 21 accused of drug use and promotion in Diwaniyah. The Agency stated in a statement that its Anti-terrorism detachments in Diwaniyah Governorate carried out separate operations based on accurate intelligence information and field follow-up, which resulted in the arrest of 13 defendants against whom judicial arrest warrants were issued in accordance with Articles 28 and 32 of the Anti-Narcotics Law. It added: 'The detachments seized (8) defendants in their possession of various types of narcotic substances, through intelligence deployment and inspection operations.' It indicated: 'The defendants, upon interrogation, frankly admitted that they had abused and traded in narcotic substances, and were referred to the competent authorities.
