World Food Programme Mobilizes Efforts to Increase Aid Inside Gaza

The United Nations continued, through its different agencies, its preparations to provide additional aid to the Gaza Strip when permission for safe passage is given.

The Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), Cindy Hensley McCain, said that the programme mobilizes its efforts to increase the aid inside Gaza, indicating that the trucks are waiting at the Rafah crossing, filled with food for the families in the shelters and houses across Gaza.

She also expressed her hope that the agreement about the entry of fuel to the Gaza Strip will be concluded, so that the lorries loaded with supplies manage to enter the strip and bread becomes once again available as the blood life of hundreds of thousands of people daily.

About 75 thousand liters of fuel found its way from Egypt to Gaza, yesterday, after the Israeli side allowed last week the daily entry of limited quantities of fuel for the basic humanitarian operations, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
