Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated today that his country is ready to work with the remaining leaders in Venezuela if they make what he described as "the right decision."
According to Qatar News Agency, Rubio remarked to CBS News that the United States' position will be determined by the actions of these leaders. He emphasized that if they fail to make the right decision, the US "will retain several tools of pressure."
US President Donald Trump announced yesterday that his country would assume control of Venezuela's affairs until what he called a "safe and peaceful transition of power" is completed. This statement follows a military operation that led to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who have been transferred to the United States to face trial.
Venezuela experienced a large-scale US air strike at dawn yesterday. The attacks targeted military sites and vital facilities in the capital Caracas and the states of Mirande, Aragua, and Vargas, including the "Forte Tiuna" base and the "La Carlota" airport.
