Damascus: US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack confirmed on Thursday that President Donald Trump intends to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism soon, emphasizing that the primary goal of the US administration is to support the current government in Damascus.
According to Qatar News Agency, Barrack made these remarks following his meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shibani. He stated that the US military has successfully completed 99% of its mission against ISIS in Syria. He also noted that Congress continues to back Trump’s efforts in this regard, which include initiatives aimed at achieving political and security stability in the country.
Earlier today, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara met with Barrack, who is visiting Damascus for the first time since the US lifted sanctions on Syria.
