The US Department of Defense announced today, Tuesday, that a Chinese fighter carried out an “unnecessarily aggressive” maneuver near a US military aircraft over the South China Sea in international airspace.
The US military command responsible for the Indo-Pacific region said in a statement that the Chinese J-16 carried out the maneuver, and the US RC-135 was forced to fly during the turbulence that followed the maneuver.
Last December, a Chinese military aircraft came within 10 feet (3 meters) of a US Air Force plane and forced it to perform evasive maneuvers to avoid collision in international airspace.
