United nations: Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty affirmed that the situation in the Middle East is on the brink of explosion, stressing that Egypt rejects any scenarios of forced displacement of the Palestinian people and that the continued violations of the Israeli occupation threaten the foundations of peace.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Dr. Abdelatty highlighted the current state of the multilateral international system, describing it as being in unprecedented fluidity with collapsing mechanisms and eroding credibility. He criticized the international community for its passive role in the face of systematic violations.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized that the Middle East is on the brink of explosion due to the absence of peace, security, and stability, and the lack of respect for international legitimacy. He expressed concern over the plight of the Palestinian people, who are suffering under Israeli practices. Dr. Abdelatty accused Israeli aggression of extending its reach throughout the region, citing a recent attack against Qatar as an example.
Dr. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, in collaboration with Qatar and the US. He stressed the importance of resuming aid flow to address the famine situation, which he attributed to Israeli actions.
The Foreign Minister concluded by stating that reforming the UN and international financial institutions is an urgent necessity. He called for fair and balanced representation in international decision-making mechanisms to ensure just outcomes.
