Gaza: The United Nations has warned of the continued deterioration of humanitarian conditions in Gaza, emphasizing that Palestinians face life-threatening risks due to Israel’s ongoing blockade of the Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that Palestinians are dying in Gaza, which has been under a total Israeli siege for the third consecutive month, as part of an ongoing campaign that has lasted for over a year and a half.
OCHA noted in a statement posted on its X account that 70 percent of Gaza’s Palestinian population either live in areas with Israeli military presence, are under forced displacement orders, or both. The office reaffirmed that the UN and its humanitarian partners are ready to intensify aid delivery to Gaza as soon as the blockade, which has been in place since March 2, is lifted.
Describing the situation in Gaza, OCHA reiterated that Palestinians are dying under a total Israeli siege for the third consecutive month. In a related development, spokesperson for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Adnan Abu Hasna, stated earlier that more than 66,000 children in Gaza suffer from malnutrition due to Israel’s starvation policies and the ongoing closure of border crossings for over two months.
UNRWA has called on the international community to exert pressure for an immediate end to the Israeli blockade of Gaza, demanding unrestricted entry of essential supplies, including food, medicine, and fuel, to save the lives of millions subjected to ongoing collective punishment.
