Doha: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by Doha Municipality and in collaboration with Seashore Group, has initiated a significant campaign aimed at removing construction waste from Al-Thumama (Fareej 50). This effort has successfully led to the removal of over 2,500 truckloads of waste, reflecting the ministry’s dedication to enhancing the urban landscape and improving the quality of life in residential areas.
According to Qatar News Agency, the campaign aligns with directives from HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, who underscores the importance of maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable environment. This initiative is part of the broader goals outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030, focusing particularly on environmental development.
The cleanup operation was executed under a comprehensive plan involving field surveys, monitoring, and waste removal from areas impacted by random dumping, a situation worsened by rapid urban expansion. General Director of Doha Municipality, Eng. Mohammad Hassan Al Nuaimi, noted that the successful results in Al Thumama demonstrate effective collaboration between government entities and the private sector, reinforcing the ministry’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness in the capital and improving residents’ quality of life.
Al Nuaimi urged contractors and developers to adhere to waste disposal regulations, stressing that environmental violations will not be tolerated. He also mentioned that the ministry is enhancing field monitoring and enforcing penalties under Public Hygiene Law No. 18 of 2017 to combat random dumping and ensure compliance with environmental practices.
Salem Al Muhannadi, CEO of Seashore Group, expressed pride in partnering with the Ministry of Municipality for this initiative. He reiterated the group’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable environmental solutions, contributing to the development of an integrated urban environment for the community and future generations.
The Ministry of Municipality also announced the nearing completion of the Al Furjan Park project in Al Thumama, expected to open in the third quarter of 2025. The park aims to enhance urban infrastructure by providing a public space for families, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering community activities in a sustainable environment.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to conducting regular field studies to assess residential area needs, focusing on developing public facilities, roads, green spaces, and commercial services according to the latest planning and engineering standards. They emphasized that environmental protection is a collective responsibility, urging all stakeholders, especially contractors and developers, to fully comply with waste management regulations and contribute to cleaner cities and sustainability.
