London: A British study has revealed growing concern about the use of artificial intelligence (AI), with escalating fears related to privacy, security, and job losses leading some users to reduce their reliance or abandon chatbots altogether.
According to Qatar News Agency, a survey conducted by the Digital Future Institute at King's College London (KCL) and Responsible AI UK found that 42% of respondents have reduced their chatbot use, while over half believe that this technology presents significant risks.
The survey, involving over 2,000 people in the UK, revealed that 52% now believe the risks of AI outweigh its benefits, indicating those with optimistic views have dropped to 34%.
KCL Researcher Jack Stilgoe said, 'the companies selling us new technology often assume that people most familiar with it will like it most,' highlighting that some users have become more cautious despite continued AI use.
The study found that the primary reasons for reduced AI usage include concerns about data privacy and security, as well as some users' preference for sticking with traditional working methods.
The study concluded that it is important to provide controls and tools that give users greater control over how and when they use AI, thereby enhancing trust in these technologies.
