Tripoli: The British Embassy in Libya reiterated the UK's commitment to supporting those affected by the floods that swept Derna and areas in eastern Libya. This came in a statement published by the Embassy on its Facebook page on the occasion of six months since Storm Daniel hit north-eastern Libya, bringing large-scale devastation and suffering. 'Bereavement, displacement, and uncertainty continue to afflict the population of Derna and the surrounding areas,' the Embassy said. 'To ensure a stable and prosperous future for the flood-affected populations, it's essential that reconstruction projects follow the core principles of transparency, accountability, and collaboration,' it added. The embassy stated that the UK is the 2nd largest donor country to the UN response, where it supports 3 polyclinics and almost 500 patients, 55 tons of core relief items, and $5 million of aid in the wake of the disaster.
