Sarangani: Two earthquakes, measuring 5.8 and 5.4 on the Richter scale, struck the southern Philippines on Monday, the US Geological Survey said. The first quake occurred approximately 48 kilometers from Sarangani in Mindanao island, while the second was 65 kilometers from the same area at a depth of 35 kilometers, the USGS reported. No tsunami warnings have been issued so far.
According to Qatar News Agency, on June 8, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the same island, resulting in 80 fatalities and displacing thousands of residents. The recent seismic activities have raised concerns among the local population, although reports of casualties or damage have not yet surfaced. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely as assessments continue.
