Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments during a phone call with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, Erdogan said Turkiye is working to resume negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and is making every effort to help secure a lasting peace between the two sides.
He also expressed hope that Europe would strengthen its defense within the NATO framework during the summit scheduled to take place in Ankara next month, and demonstrate a strong commitment to preserving the "transatlantic bond."
Erdogan added that Turkiye and Germany are seeking to further develop their bilateral relations, stressing the importance of continuing to take reciprocal steps toward that goal.
