The Foreign Minister assures his Palestinian counterpart of Iraq’s firm position on the Palestinians right to live on their land

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, met with his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad Al-Maliki, on Thursday, on the sidelines of his participation in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, which will be held in Baku from 5-6 July 2023.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and emphasized the need to deepen them in a way that achieves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Hussein expressed his strong condemnation of the continuation of the crimes of the Zionist occupation, which led to the fall of dozens of victims among our defenseless Palestinian people, during the past days in the city of Jenin and its camp, reiterating Iraq’s firm position on the absolute Palestinians right to live on their land, refusing to attack it, and its inalienable right in establishing their independent national state, calling on all the forces of goodness and peace in the world to work to stop the aggression and expose it, and to condemn the heinous crime, and distinguish it as a kind of clear-cut terrorism, which harms the efforts of stability and safe living, which the friendly and brotherly peoples in the region are working to consolidate.

For his part, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki praised the positions of the Iraqi government and people in support of the Palestinian cause and the great sacrifices made for it, as well as the continued emphasis on it in international forums.
