Damascus: Syrian President Ahmed Al Sharaa has held a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to discuss bilateral cooperation and the latest developments in Syria and the wider region. Al Sharaa briefed the French president on efforts being made to protect civilians and secure the surroundings of the city of Aleppo, stressing that restoring normal life remained a top priority for the Syrian authorities.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the call on Thursday evening, President Macron reaffirmed France's commitment to supporting Syria's unity and sovereignty. He also underlined the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two countries. Macron said France supported efforts by the Syrian state to reinforce stability and extend the rule of law across the country.
