South Korea to Conduct Defensive Drills Next Week to Enhance Military Readiness

Seoul: The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that the military will conduct its annual Taeguk simulation exercises starting on May 12, lasting for three days, as part of efforts to enhance preparedness against military threats from North Korea.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Joint Chiefs explained that the drills will simulate multiple crisis scenarios, with the aim to evaluate and improve military response systems.

The Joint Chiefs emphasized that the exercises are designed to reinforce a proactive stance and develop deterrence capabilities in response to North Korean provocations. They also highlighted that the military will continue to enhance operational readiness through a thorough review of emergency plans and improved coordination mechanisms.

These drills come at a time of heightened tension between the two Koreas, marked by reciprocal military displays and security developments that reflect growing regional concerns, with differing positions on security and stability issues on the Korean Peninsula.
