Somali President, Commander of US Africa Command Discuss Security Cooperation

Mogadishu: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met Wednesday with Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Michael Langley, and discussed ways to enhance security cooperation between the two countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, during their meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance joint efforts to eliminate Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab elements and to coordinate expanded partnership operations with African peacekeeping forces.

The Somali President stressed the importance of continued US support for Somalia, particularly in the international fight against terrorism.
