Doha: Acting Head of Qatar General Organization for Standardization (QS) Eng. Jabr bin Mohamed Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, affirmed that Qatar National Day represents a renewed milestone for recalling the deeply rooted values instilled by the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani. These values laid the solid foundations for Qatar's path of development and growth, a journey that continues with pride and steadfastness under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
According to Qatar News Agency, on the occasion of National Day, Al Nuaimi said that this year's celebrations are being held under the slogan "With You It Rises, and From You It Awaits," inspired by the words of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. This slogan embodies the leadership's firm belief in the pivotal role of citizens in the nation's renaissance and underscores that human development is the cornerstone of sustainable development.
He reviewed QS' key achievements during the current year, noting that approximately 2,200 standards and technical regulations were prepared, studied, and adopted. These include regulations related to food product shelf life, electric vehicles, and water consumption efficiency. He also highlighted the implementation of 900 international observations and votes within the framework of the ISO, IEC, CODEX, and the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Agreement.
He further highlighted the organization's provision of 250 technical consultations, the issuance of 820 conformity certificates to national factories and air conditioner suppliers, and the registration of 1,200 quality certificates issued by certification bodies. In addition, the organization conducted 11,200 legal metrological calibrations, 710 industrial calibrations, and inspected and hallmarked 5.5 tons of precious metals. He pointed out that QS' revenues amounted to approximately QAR 10 million during the current year.
Al Nuaimi pointed out that the organization has made tangible progress in the areas of digital transformation and cybersecurity enhancement by developing draft standards that support the use of artificial intelligence technologies and improving the readiness of digital services, in line with the state's drive towards a smart and interconnected government.
He also revealed that 33 testing and calibration activities within the organization have obtained international accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025, in addition to developing technical work manuals, initiating preparatory studies for the establishment of the National Metrology Center, and expanding the scope of testing for precious metals and gemstones.
In concluding his statement to QNA, Eng. Al Nuaimi emphasized that these achievements reflect the organization's ongoing efforts to support the standardization and quality system, contributing to the comprehensive development process. He extended his congratulations to the wise leadership and the Qatari people on this national occasion, wishing the State of Qatar continued progress and prosperity.
