Doha: The Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW), in collaboration with the National Committee for the Preparation of the National Human Rights Action Plan (2026-2030), convened a broad consultative session aimed at enhancing coordination between state institutions and civil society to prepare a comprehensive human rights plan.
According to Qatar News Agency, the plan is designed to balance Qatar's international obligations with its national identity, reflecting the legislative and institutional progress witnessed over the past two decades. The session is part of QFSW's strategic role in supporting the human rights system by identifying beneficiaries' needs, documenting onsite challenges, and informing decision-making authorities, thus contributing to the creation of efficient national policies.
Ahead of the convention, CEO of QFSW Rashid Mohammed Al Hamda Al Nuaimi highlighted the plan as a pivotal milestone toward strengthening human rights in Qatar. He described it as a strategic national framework that embodies Qatar's commitment to protecting human rights and promoting the quality of life for all community segments.
HE Acting Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sarah Abdullah Al Saadi, addressed the session, emphasizing that the plan exemplifies Qatar's commitment to human dignity, justice, equality, and the rule of law, derived from Islamic Sharia, the nation's permanent Constitution, and its National Vision 2030. Al Saadi noted that previous consultative sessions contributed informed outcomes that will serve as a model for crafting the policy.
Hanadi Nedham Al Shafai, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explained that this session is the third in a series aimed at preparing the third plan, addressing challenges, and formulating actionable recommendations for the national plan.
The session included participation from QFSW center directors, experts, and legal specialists to examine field challenges and explore integration opportunities to protect priority groups. Ghada Khalifa Al Subaey, Director of Advocacy and International Relations at QFSW, emphasized the session's role in connecting beneficiaries with decision-makers, thus ensuring the plan reflects real needs and experiences.
The session provided a platform for direct participation from persons with disabilities, the blind, and their families to share experiences and challenges, reinforcing community participation in drafting the plan. Representatives from Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, Al-Noor Center for the Blind, and the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan) participated, ensuring inclusivity in drafting national recommendations.
