Doha: Qatari newspapers focused on a multitude of local and international issues in their editorials today. Foremost among these was Qatar's commitment to establishing a comprehensive approach that protects both people and the environment. This commitment was demonstrated by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani ratifying Cabinet Resolutions No. (37) and (38) of 2025, establishing the national committee for combating environmental damage and violations at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), and the digital safety committee for children at the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF).
According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials addressed Qatar's success in enhancing its global presence in 2025 through its effective political, diplomatic, and humanitarian efforts. They further highlighted its consolidation of its position as a global sports capital, with the announcement of a packed sports calendar for 2026, reflecting the integration of sustainable development initiatives. The newspapers also emphasized Qatar's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, strengthening the resilience of the healthcare system, and ensuring the continuity of vital services despite current challenges.
In this context, Al-Raya newspaper affirmed that by establishing specialized committees with clear powers and precise follow-up mechanisms, Qatar is consolidating an institutional approach to confronting modern challenges, whether in the digital space, commonly used by children, or in the environment. It added that despite Qatar's focus on its strategic and developmental projects, it has not overlooked the risks surrounding its children, which have evolved from traditional threats into technological alienation. Nor has Qatar neglected its environment, emphasizing the necessity of protecting it.
The editorial explained that national efforts to protect children in the digital sphere are evident through committees and policies dedicated to ensuring the safety of young people online. This is particularly important given that engagement with the digital world is essential, requiring the development of awareness and safe-use skills alongside legislation, monitoring tools, and cooperation among relevant authorities, families, and schools. The editorial noted that HH the Amir's ratification of the Cabinet's resolutions provides a clear national framework for addressing environmental violations and crimes.
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted the successes achieved by the State of Qatar as 2025 drew to a close. It pointed out that the country bid farewell to a year brimming with achievements that solidified its influential presence on the international stage through political, diplomatic, humanitarian, economic, cultural, and social contributions. The editorial explained that Qatar's successes stem from a strategic vision and a strong will, making it a key player in addressing major global challenges through international multilateral cooperation.
The newspaper stated that all state institutions spare no effort in strengthening joint work with all countries, in accordance with the directives of HH the Amir, to make development an investment in security, stability, and human dignity. Qatar never misses an opportunity to support global efforts aimed at enhancing multilateralism and international cooperation. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by affirming that Qatar has established itself as an influential political and diplomatic force, contributing to addressing complex issues through mediation, cooperation with partners, and providing humanitarian and development assistance.
