Swiss alps: Swiss police said Thursday that dozens were killed and about 100 injured in an explosion at a mountain ski resort in the Alps, in southwestern Switzerland. Police chief of the Valais canton in southwestern Switzerland, Frederic Gisler, stated there was no final death toll, but confirmed that dozens had died, with about 100 individuals injured, some seriously.
According to Qatar News Agency, the explosion reportedly occurred inside the resort around 1:30 a.m. local time. In response, police, firefighters, and rescue services promptly rushed to the scene at the resort, which is recognized as one of the most popular ski destinations in Europe. Authorities have completely closed off the area, additionally imposing a no-fly zone over the affected resort.
