Doha: Al-Watan newspaper emphasized in its recent editorial Qatar's remarkable accomplishments in the sports arena, underscoring its role as a hub for international, continental, and regional sporting events.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorial highlighted Qatar's successful hosting of numerous prestigious tournaments, attributing this achievement to its advanced sports infrastructure and organizational capabilities.

The editorial further detailed that the Qatar Olympic Committee has unveiled the sports calendar for 2026, comprising 83 events, including 39 international championships, 16 world championships, 10 Asian championships, 3 Gulf championships, one Arab championship, and 14 local championships. The sports season is set to commence in January with significant events such as the HH the Father Amir Equestrian Prix and the Qatar International Table Tennis Championship. The calendar, as noted by Al-Watan, is meticulously prepared to ensure coordination with national federations and optimal use of sports facilities.
