Doha: In their editorials on Thursday, Qatari newspapers focused on the Cabinet’s approval of a draft Amiri Decision to establish the Qatar Award for Localization in the Private Sector.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also held the international community accountable for ongoing violations by the Israeli entity, attributing these violations to international complacency.
In its editorial, Al-Arab newspaper emphasized that the Cabinet’s approval of the draft Amiri Decision is a significant step towards achieving Qatar National Vision 2030. The decision aims to create a workforce that contributes to comprehensive development and recognizes outstanding Qatari talents in the private sector. The newspaper highlighted ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Labour to localize jobs and train the national workforce, noting a nearly fivefold increase in citizen employment in the private sector last year.
Al-Arab further pointed out that despite the partnership between public and private sectors, the rate of Qatarization remains low in many sectors and nearly nonexistent in others. This situation necessitates more training programs for citizens and greater engagement with private enterprises to meet desired goals.
Al-Watan newspaper, in its editorial, underscored the private sector’s pivotal role in sustainable development and economic growth. It stated that the State prioritizes enhancing employment opportunities for citizens in this sector. The newspaper remarked that the Cabinet’s approval of the draft Amiri Decision reaffirms a commitment to strengthening the private sector and enriching it with national expertise to achieve Qatar National Vision and the Third National Development Strategy’s objectives.
Al-Watan concluded by asserting that job localization goes beyond providing employment opportunities; it also aids in forming qualified national cadres capable of leading economic development and improving efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness. The Qatar Award for Localization in the Private Sector is expected to be a vital motivator, encouraging citizens to join the private workforce and strengthening its role.
