Doha: Qatari newspapers have highlighted the State of Qatar’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause in their Wednesday editorials, affirming Doha’s ongoing efforts to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, ensure the continuous flow of humanitarian aid, and work towards the release of prisoners and detainees. This position is rooted in Qatar’s belief in the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to Qatar News Agency, these editorials reflect Qatar’s commitment to achieving a just and comprehensive peace, alleviating the suffering of civilians, and promoting security and stability in the region. The newspapers condemned the recent Israeli aggression on Syrian territory, describing it as a provocation and a violation of Syria’s sovereignty, as well as a breach of international law. These attacks are seen as part of a broader pattern of expansionist actions and ongoing conflicts in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, defying international efforts for peace.
Al-Watan newspaper highlighted a phone call between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, Jose Manuel Albares. They discussed bilateral cooperation, developments in the Gaza Strip, and other shared interests. The newspaper noted Qatar’s gratitude for Spain’s supportive stance on achieving peace and emphasized the need for increased efforts to end the conflict in Gaza, ensure humanitarian aid, and secure the release of hostages.
In a related editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper criticized the Israeli government’s tactics in stalling efforts to end the conflict in Gaza, noting political maneuvers related to mediation efforts between Qatar and Egypt. This approach, according to Al-Sharq, is indicative of Israel’s strategy to obstruct mediation and continue its actions in Gaza, which are described as war crimes and crimes against humanity. Qatar’s focus remains on saving lives and reaching an agreement to stop the conflict and return detainees to their families.
