5.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Papua New Guinea

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter Scale struck on Wednesday Papua New Guinea. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 104 km east of Kimbe, at a depth of 92 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far. Papua New Guinea is located in the so-called Ring of Fire, a region that extends along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, which is characterized by high seismic and volcanic activity. This region includes 90% of the active volcanoes in the world.
