Qatari Newspapers Editorials -1-

In its editorial, Al-Sharq daily said that US newspaper "The Washington Post" quoted Pentagon and State Department officials as saying that the US has approved in recent days the shipment of new arms packages to the Israeli entity, including more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, in addition to 25 F-35A fighter jets and engines worth roughly $2.5 billion, even as Washington expresses its concerns about an expected Israeli attack on Rafah that could threaten the lives of more than one million Palestinians. The newspaper considered that this new American deal to provide the Israeli entity with more deadly and advanced weapons, which came after a visit by the Israeli entity's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to Washington, during which he asked the US administration to expedite the provision of military aid, affirms that the statements of the White House and its repeated warnings about the Israeli military operation that the occupation forces intend to carry out to invade Rafah in the Gaza Strip are nothing but a political maneuver to cover up the US administration's continued support for the war. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the messages sent by Washington by providing more bombs and fighter jets to Israel are not a new stance of supporting the continuation of the war in the Gaza Strip, as Washington has continued to thwart all proposed draft resolutions in the Security Council for a ceasefire, while hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents face the specter of famine and live in catastrophic humanitarian conditions since the start of the aggression on Oct. 7. In turn, Al-Watan referred to the "day after" plan for the Gaza Strip presented by Israeli entity's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the security Cabinet, pointing out that the plan reflects a state of ambiguity and confusion resulting from the hesitation in making decisive decisions and attempting to maneuver between avoiding international pressures, avoiding confrontation with the administration of US P resident Joe Biden, and maintaining the government coalition and preventing its disintegration, by appeasing partners from right-wing parties, especially the leader of the "Jewish Strength" party Itamar Ben-Gvir and head of the Religious Zionist party Bezalel Smotrich It clarified that there is no seriousness in the current Israeli government to end this war, for internal considerations that Netanyahu realizes that ending the war is not in favor of his political ambitions. Thus, he continues this criminal war for personal goals and ambitions only. The paper considered that the plan came as a form of manipulation of words and the use of sensational phrases, in order to hide the fact that the plan has no meaning and has no substantive value. In conclusion, Al-Watan emphasized that Netanyahu has no plan for future political settlement with the Palestinians; therefore, it is difficult to talk about a ceasefire as long as he continues to lead a government of war that only excels in killing and committing atrocio us crimes against innocent civilians. English-language newspaper The Peninsula denounced Israel's continuous rampage in Gaza despite UN Security Council's resolution to stop its war on the Palestinian enclave, and condemnation from all over the world for massacre of civilians and destruction of civilian infrastructure. Under the headline "Qatar's Support for Palestinians", the paper said that taking note of widespread starvation and looming famine in the besieged territory, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel on Thursday to take all the necessary action to ensure basic food supplies arrive without delay in Gaza. The ICJ said that Palestinians face worsening conditions of life and famine. A UN-backed report has projected famine by May unless urgent intervention takes place. Qatar welcoming the ICJ ruling said the war on Gaza has created a tragic humanitarian situation that continues to worsen due to obstacles imposed on the entry of aid and the targeting of civilians, including children and women and the aid distribution areas, the paper said. Qatar has been coordinating with the UN agencies to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza. The country has increased its funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. Besides, the Qatari government has been sending planeloads of aid since the beginning of the crisis in Gaza, and evacuated hundreds of wounded Palestinians to provide medical care in Doha, the paper added. The Education Above All Foundation intensified its aid efforts during Ramadan in Gaza. The foundation committed to delivering aid to 233,000 beneficiaries. The foundation said that it is carrying out 16 initiatives with its partners to support residents, including the provision of meals, mental health and psychosocial support, The Peninsula Concluded.
