English-language newspaper The Peninsula underlined the Shura Council’s pivotal role in Qatar’s nation-building efforts, particularly through its involvement in legislative processes and its collaboration with other state institutions.
Under the headline “Enhancing public participation,” the paper said that marking the commencement of a new legislative term, the Shura Council is set to begin its fourth ordinary session of the first legislative term, continuing a legacy of over 50 years of active engagement in Qatar’s political and social development.
The Council is instrumental in shaping policies that reflect the aspirations of the Qatari people and align with the nation’s long-term goals, particularly those outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030. This includes addressing economic, social, and cultural challenges through a framework that emphasizes transparency and national loyalty, the paper added.
The paper noted that during its previous sessions, the Council has made significant contributions to the de
velopment of national laws and policies. This includes approving crucial legislation such as the general budget, laws related to real estate registration, judicial enforcement, and job nationalization in the private sector. Additionally, it has spearheaded discussions on issues vital to the welfare of citizens, ranging from tourism development to the regulation of domestic workers.
By maintaining its commitment to the principles of Shura, the Council ensures that Qatar’s path to progress is built on a foundation of inclusivity, national heritage, and the active engagement of its citizens in shaping the country’s future, The Peninsula concluded.
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that with the ongoing and escalating Israeli aggression against Lebanon, and the situation that has become open to the worst scenarios in the region, with more than 1,300 people killed and daily shelling exchanged across the Lebanese-Israeli border, which has forced nearly a million residents of Lebanese villages
and towns to flee, the State of Qatar continues its intensive diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to spare the region the dangers of slipping into a wide regional war that would have catastrophic repercussions on the Middle East and the entire world.
The newspaper referred in this regard to the phone conversation held yesterday between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Lebanon Nabih Berri. The conversation focused on the latest developments in Lebanon and ways for de-escalation, as HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar’s deep concern about the recent developments in Lebanon, and its support for efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire. He emphasized that the State of Qatar’s priority is to do everything possible to stop the aggression on Lebanon, de-escalate the situation, and promote security and stability in the region.
In its belief in the necessity of joint eff
orts to de-escalate tensions in the region and resolve disputes peacefully, the State of Qatar spares no effort in doing everything possible to stop the Israeli aggression and supports all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability at both regional and international levels, Al-Sharq said in conclusion.
