Qatari Newspapers Condemn Israeli Attack on Doha Residential Buildings

Doha: In a series of editorials on Wednesday, Qatari newspapers denounced the Israeli attack on residential buildings in Doha that housed several members of Hamas’ political bureau, labeling it as a violation of international laws and norms.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials described the attack as a breach of the United Nations Charter and a threat to the safety and security of Qatari citizens and residents, as well as a dangerous escalation impacting regional and international stability.

Al-Sharq newspaper, in its editorial, referred to the Israeli assault as a crime against humanity and international conventions. The editorial pointed out that this attack marked an unprecedented targeting of Qatar, a country known for mediating regional conflicts. The paper highlighted the sentiments of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, who questioned Israel’s intentions in reshaping the Middle East and the Gulf region.

The editorial in Al-Sharq further criticized the aggression as crossing all red lines, with the head of the Israeli government disregarding norms and values, suggesting a lack of interest in peace talks. The paper concluded with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s condemnation of the attack, emphasizing its violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law, and holding Israel accountable for its actions that threaten regional stability.

Simultaneously, Al-Arab newspaper’s editorial focused on the global condemnation and international solidarity with Qatar following the attack. HH the Amir’s conversation with US President Donald Trump was highlighted, where he reiterated Qatar’s commitment to protecting its security and sovereignty and its continued support for just humanitarian causes.

The paper also reported HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs’ statement at a press conference, asserting that Qatar will not tolerate any violation of its sovereignty and reserves the right to respond to the Israeli assault. Al-Arab concluded by asserting Qatar’s stance on sovereignty and its diplomatic influence, viewing the attack as an attempt by Israel to marginalize Qatar’s role in mediation efforts.
