Doha: In a series of editorials, prominent Qatari newspapers have expressed deep concern over the recent military operations and Iranian attacks targeting infrastructure and civilian facilities in the region. Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted the escalation of these attacks on Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, emphasizing the challenges they pose to mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq underscored the importance of Qatar's diplomatic endeavors to mitigate the consequences of these attacks. The newspaper calls for an immediate cessation of military operations, urging a return to dialogue and negotiations to uphold regional security and stability. It emphasized the need for full implementation of existing agreements and warned against actions that could exacerbate the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Peninsula newspaper described Iran's attacks on Qatar and its neighbors as a severe breach of international law and a threat to national sovereignty. It reiterated Qatar's consistent advocacy for dialogue and diplomatic solutions but stressed that such efforts should not compromise national sovereignty or civilian safety. The newspaper urged for an immediate halt to military actions and a focus on diplomatic engagement.
On broader Arab affairs, Al-Watan newspaper discussed Israel's approach to peace with Arab states, critiquing its strategy of dealing with countries individually without addressing the underlying issues, particularly its occupation of Palestinian, Syrian, and Lebanese territories. The editorial called for addressing the unresolved Palestinian issue, which it identified as a central cause of Middle Eastern conflicts, to achieve lasting peace in the region.
