Qatar debate Concludes 6th US Universities Arabic Debating Championship

Doha: Qatar debate, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, concluded the 6th edition of the US Universities Arabic Debating Championship (USADC). The championship included 36 teams representing 34 American universities, with notable participants such as Harvard University, the University of Chicago, Duke University, the University of Utah, and Stanford University.

According to Qatar News Agency, this year’s championship title was claimed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), following a decisive performance in the final round against Stanford University. The closing debate centered on the theme of prioritizing emotional intelligence in education over academic achievements, captivating both the audience and adjudicators with its high-level intellectual exchanges.

Throughout the three-day event, debaters examined a variety of significant global issues, including e-commerce, progressive education, the four-day work week, and the future of the middle class. Many universities showcased their Arabic debate clubs, which were established through Qatar Debate’s capacity-building programs in the United States.

These initiatives are designed to enhance participants’ skills and promote active community engagement in Arabic debate championships across the nation. Furthermore, they provide adjudicators with essential judging techniques, contributing to the quality and fairness of the competitions. The programs also aim to prepare students to establish and lead debate clubs within their educational institutions.
