PHCC’s Occupational Health and Safety Conference Highlights Key Innovations for Safer Workplace

Doha: The first occupational health and safety conference, organized by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), discussed Monday the best practices and innovations that contribute to building a safer work environment and promoting the values of care, prevention, and responsibility towards occupational safety.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conference was held under the theme of promoting a culture of occupational health and safety in healthcare environments, coinciding with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. It aimed to highlight the importance of the health, safety, and well-being of healthcare workers.

PHCC Managing Director Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik stated that the conference reflects the commitment to providing safer, healthier, and more resilient work environments for the healthcare workforce. Occupational health and safety goes beyond mere adherence to instructions; it is a fundamental pillar for achieving excellence in patient care, ensuring employee well-being, and enhancing institutional sustainability.

In a speech during the conference, she added that the event is an opportunity to exchange insights, celebrate innovations, and instill a culture that prioritizes employee health and safety. The event brought together experts and specialists from various sectors.

PHCC’s Director of Occupational Health and Safety Department Dr. Mariam Al Muslemani hailed the event as a strong beginning for the concept of occupational safety based on cooperation, learning, and proactive care. She noted that this step makes the PHCC a leading model in the field of occupational health and safety.

Participants addressed a range of vital topics in the field of occupational health and safety, primarily the vital role of senior management in promoting occupational health and safety, how to establish an organized and effective occupational health and safety management system, and the impact of a strong corporate safety culture on the health and safety of workers.

Also on the agenda were the importance of occupational health checks for workers, with a focus on work-related injuries, as well as a range of best practices for manual handling and the work environment in healthcare, key challenges, and ways to excel in occupational health and safety. A focus was also placed on the concept of psychological safety, along with environmental safety and sustainability.
