New york: HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikh Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani participated in the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Group at the ambassadorial level, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, to discuss ongoing Iranian attacks targeting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, as well as other countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency addressed the meeting by disclosing that the territory of the State of Qatar had been subjected to a series of attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran. She highlighted that Qatari air defenses, the Qatar Emiri Air Force, and naval forces successfully intercepted these attacks. The incidents resulted in injuries and damage to both public and private property, and targeted civilian facilities, including a water tank at a power station, vital facilities for liquefied natural gas production, and areas surrounding Hamad International Airport.

Her Excellency emphasized that the State of Qatar strongly condemns these attacks, describing them as a violation of its national sovereignty and a direct threat to its security and territorial integrity. She further conveyed Qatar's condemnation of violations affecting the sovereignty of several sisterly countries, affirming solidarity with these states in all measures they undertake to protect their sovereignty, security, and stability.

Her Excellency noted that the State of Qatar has kept the UN Security Council informed of these developments, having sent four letters to convey updated facts and emphasize the civilian nature of the targeted sites. She affirmed Qatar's full right to respond in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

HE the Permanent Representative added that despite GCC states' diplomatic efforts to avoid escalation and their assurances that their territories would not be used to launch attacks against Iran, they continue to be targeted by Iran, violating Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the UN Charter. She expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown by many member states and urged the OIC Group to stand united in issuing a condemnation of these attacks targeting Qatar, GCC countries, and other Arab states.
