Doha: Director of the Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Ismail Al Thawabta, stated that Israel’s recent actions against Qatar constitute a serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. He highlighted that these actions reveal a disregard for international norms and the sovereignty of nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Thawabta emphasized that the Israeli occupation’s targeting of the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha is a blatant attempt to pressure Qatar into abandoning its supportive stance towards Palestine, which has garnered respect globally. He noted that the aggression occurred amidst Qatar’s ongoing mediation efforts and its humanitarian and political support for Palestinians.
Dr. Al Thawabta condemned the Israeli actions targeting Doha, describing them as a direct assault on a mediating state that plays a crucial role in de-escalating tensions and protecting lives in the Gaza Strip. He remarked that this attack is part of a systematic effort to undermine diplomatic initiatives led by Qatar and to intimidate regional supporters of Palestinian rights.
Expressing solidarity with Qatar, Dr. Al Thawabta assured that the Arab and Islamic world believes in Qatar’s continued support for the Palestinian cause. He stressed that intimidation attempts will not weaken Qatar’s resolve or its historic role in supporting Palestinians against occupation.
In his statement to QNA, Dr. Al Thawabta urged the international community, especially the UN and the Security Council, to take immediate action against these aggressive behaviors. He called for measures to prevent further attacks and to protect the diplomatic and humanitarian roles played by Qatar and other supportive nations.
