Oil Prices Rise amid Renewed Tensions in Middle East

Doha: Oil prices rose on Friday amid renewed tensions between the United States and Iran and concerns about disruptions to crude supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude futures rose $1.05, or about 1.25 percent, to $85.28 a barrel in Asian trading.

According to Qatar News Agency, US West Texas Intermediate crude futures also went up $1.03, or about 1.3 percent, to $79.98 a barrel. Both benchmarks posted weekly gains of about 12 percent.
