Lebanon, Iran FMs Discuss Bilateral Relations

Beirut: Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi discussed today bilateral relations and several issues and challenges facing Lebanon. Araghchi stressed that his country remains keen on Lebanon's unity and independence, and that defending the country was the government's responsibility. He also emphasized that the unity of Lebanon's sects behind the country's government can help protect and stabilize it.

According to Qatar News Agency, Rajji stressed that protecting Lebanon was the state's responsibility and can be achieved when the state has full control over the decision of war and peace and monopolizes the holding of weapons. He added that only then could it request help from other countries, including Iran.
