Doha: HE Minister of Labor and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Qatar Private Sector Job Nationalisation Award Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri presided over the board’s inaugural meeting. The board includes representatives from the Ministry of Labor, the National Planning Council, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, and the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, members officially launched the board’s work, reviewed the regulatory and technical framework of the award, identified the target categories, and set out a work plan to achieve its objectives in line with the national localisation strategy “We Work for Qatar” and the Third National Development Strategy. The discussions also covered the approved performance criteria and governance mechanisms designed to ensure transparency and fairness in the nomination and evaluation processes.
The meeting endorsed the official logo of the Qatar Private Sector Job Nationalisation Award, the award categories, the timeline for its first edition, the media plan, and the annual financial allocation for the award. The award was established under Amiri Decree No. 27 of 2025, issued on Sept. 1, 2025. The decree stipulates that the award aims to promote positive competition among private sector entities in the field of job nationalisation by honouring those that have achieved localisation targets and contributed to Qatar’s National Vision. It also recognises outstanding Qatari professionals, talented individuals engaged in the private sector, visionary leaders, and innovative entrepreneurs.
The Amiri Decree further provides for the formation of a Board of Trustees within the Ministry of Labor to manage the award’s affairs, set the required criteria and categories, and establish its operational procedures. The State of Qatar seeks to enhance the skills and productivity of its workforce, increase Qatari participation in future-oriented economic sectors, and build a highly educated and motivated national talent base.
The goal is to employ more than 20 percent of Qatari nationals in the private and semi-private sectors through diverse job opportunities and high-quality training programmes tailored to their ambitions and capabilities. The initiative also encourages private companies to hire Qataris in medium- to high-skilled positions and ensures the sustainability of localisation programmes that meet Labor market needs, contributing to a diversified, knowledge-based, and sustainable national economy.
