Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced today, Monday, that Iraq had informed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation of its desire to host the emergency meeting in Baghdad regarding the burning of the Holy Qur’an.
Al-Sahhaf said to the semi-official agency, Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq sent an official memorandum to the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, confirming the desire of the Iraqi government to host the emergency high-level meeting in Baghdad, to discuss the issue of desecration and burning of a copy of the Holy Qur'an in Sweden."
